We'll be going to the summit of Mt. Umunhum this Sunday, March 6th, to operate portable radios and test the antenna kit that we built over the past few weeks in our weekly antenna workshop. If conditions are good, we should be able to make contacts up to several thousand miles away.

There is a parking lot within a few hundred feet of the summit. We'll park there and find an area with trees to string up our antenna.

For those who'd like a nice hike, you can also park below at the Bald Mountain parking lot and take the Mt. Umunhum trail to meet us at the summit. The hike is about 3.6 miles long, with a 1000ft elevation rise.

We plan to meet at the Tresidder parking lot at 9am and drive to the Sierra Azul Parking Lot at Mount Umunhum. We should arrive at the summit by 11am. We'll plan to leave around 2pm, and should be back to campus by 4pm.

We will eat lunch after we get to the summit, so please bring a packed lunch and one or two bottles of water with you. There are public restrooms at the summit. Also, remember to dress warmly with multiple layers.
