Info for MSN users

Due to non-standard behavior of the MSN 9 mail client, the following steps
may be required in order to subscribe to mailing lists hosted by W6YX.

The problem is that the MSN software, when set to use formatted text/HTML,
modifies the plaintext portion of the email, adding a <mailto:> link
to all email addresses. It is not supposed to do that, and the presence of
the <mailto:> link causes majordomo to return an error indicating that the
address contains invalid characters.

The following instructions were obtained from MSN support, and will set the MSN software to use plain text only.

1. Sign in to the MSN 9 software and click 'Mail & More'
2. Click 'Help & Settings' and then go to 'E-mail Settings'
3. Click 'Writing E-mail'
4. Click 'Text Formatting'
5. Mark 'Use plain text for compatibility with any e-mail program'
6. Click on 'Save Changes' when done

If you are having problems subscribing to the list, you should follow these instructions, and then email <listname>-request@w6yx.stanford.edu, no subject, with "subscribe" as the message body.

Replace <listname> with the name of the mailing list you are attempting to subscribe to.

You will receive a confirmation email, which you will need to return as per the instructions included with the email.

If you still have problems, please feel free to contact the list owner at <listname>-approval@w6yx.stanford.edu.

Please forward the portion of the error message prior to the help file.
