Fire Line Pack

Required for "Shadow Duty" on the fire line


Safety equipment expected to on personnel on the fire line:
	Gloves

Helmet with chinstrap and goggles

NOMEX Fire Pants and Fire Shirt (Issued by CDF on a per incident basis)

Boots (High top, lace up, lug sole preferred)

Belt with Canteen (1 quart size)

First-Aid kit (pocket type)

Valid VIP Identification Card


Other equipment expected to be close at hand on the fire line:
	Jacket

Sleeping Bag



Fire Camp Pack

Reccomended items to be available from your staging area. It is best to organize your Fire Camp Pack into smaller "stuff sacks" contained inside a larger bag.


Extra clothes (besides what you are currently wearing):
	Spare Gloves

Underwear (2 sets)

Socks (2 sets)

Handkerchiefs, Large (2 each)

Shirt, Pants, belt, and street shoes


Personal clean-up items:
	Soap, Wash cloth and towel

Toothbrush and toothpaste

Small roll of toilet paper

Chapstick

Insect repellant

Suntan Oil or Lotion

Shaving Kit (razor, shaving cream, lotion)


Personal First Aid items:
	Eye drops

Salt tablets

"Snake Bite" kit

Hay Fever medicine

Ointment for Poison Oak

Special condition medicines

Ointment for cuts and abrasions


Miscellaneous optional items:
Items can be carried on your person, in your Fire Camp Pack, or in your private transportation (if used to transport you to the incident)

Sun Glasses

Air mattress

Pocket knife

Camera and Film

Spare chin straps for helmet

Small transistor radio (AM/FM)

Spare boot laces, can of boot oil and rag

Thermos with hot beverege (coffee, tea, or soup)

Snacks (Jerky, candy, gum, peanuts, etc)

Can opener (GI type on your keyring)

Small sewing repair kit


Personal Funds
Other than for meals provided in the fire camps, each person will be expected to pay for his/her meals as needed and will be reimbursed after returning home, with appropriate reciepts, as per the meal policy)

Radio Equipment

As required for the position you are responding for. You will be notified at the time of dispatch of the frequencies/bands in use and if any special equipment is required.


Required for "Shadow Duty":
	Handi-Talkie (144/220/440 Amateur bands may be used on incident)

Handi-Talkie battery packs for 12 hours of sustained operation

Headphones or Earphone

Incident Command System pocket guide (ICS-420)

Pen, Pencil, pad of paper, clipboard

flashlight (pocket or belt type)


Recommended Optional Equipment
	12 VDC Auto Cigarette Lighter power cord

Magnetic Mount external antenna for band used

Spare Handi-Talkie (if available in case of failure)

Handi-Talkie AA/AAA battery packs for back-up use

Spare set of AA/AAA cells for above battery pack

Battery pack quick charger (if A/C power is available)

Hot-Rod type Handi-Talkie antenna for extended range

Large plastic bag or waterproof radio case to protect your radio
